Apparent Mississippi school shooting suspect charged as adult

The Associated Press reports that Ethan Crumbley, a 17-year-old student at Fulton High School in Oxford, Mississippi, will be charged as an adult in the shooting that left two boys dead.

Authorities also say that Crumbley will be charged with two counts of capital murder, and three counts of first-degree murder.

Crumbley will not be charged as a juvenile. The Associated Press reported Friday that the charges against Crumbley were unchanged from when the charges were issued Thursday.

The school shooting happened Thursday morning. According to a news release from the University of Mississippi Police Department, Crumbley walked into the building and fired one round into the head of one of the students.

Jackson’s Commercial Appeal reports that Crumbley faces three counts of capital murder and one count of attempted capital murder. There were no other people wounded in the shooting.

Members of the Jackson Police Department and University of Mississippi Police Department are at the shooting scene.

In a Facebook post earlier Thursday, the University of Mississippi Police Department said that parents should pick up their children from school.
