North Yorkshire police launch murder investigation

A body has been found at a semi-detached house in North Yorkshire and a murder investigation has been launched.

North Yorkshire Police said the body was discovered by police who were called to the scene on Chipping Norton Road in Peel Valley at around 05:20 on Tuesday.

It is thought a man’s body was found at the property but police have said this is currently unconfirmed.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “The death is currently being treated as suspicious.”

He confirmed no arrests had been made and the man being held has not been arrested on suspicion of any other offence.

The force asked anyone who saw anything suspicious in the early hours of Tuesday morning to contact them.

A post-mortem examination is being carried out.

The coroner for North Yorkshire has been informed.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 205 of 27 November.

Thames Valley Police said it was dealing with a death investigation in Kingswood, Oxfordshire.

A spokeswoman said no one was injured but would not comment further.

More than 800 calls were made to the Crimestoppers charity in 2017 following burglaries.

The charity recorded 830 murder inquiries, 406 attempted murders and 712 aggravated burglaries, along with more than 1,200 burglaries that ended in no theft or injury.
